Exploring Georgina: Best Winter Activities for Newcomers & Residents
Georgina really DOES have it all! Residents enjoy being minutes to Hwy 404 for commuting to work. But when the weekend comes, there’s SO much to look forward to!
Yes, EVEN in the Winter months. Here are some fun Winter Activities guaranteed to make you smile, laugh and enjoy even the most frigid of days!
The ROC - Grab your own toboggan and head over to The ROC where you can hit the slope for FREE! Alternatively, if you want to take things up a notch, consider renting a tube and hitting the bigger hill to really enjoy the thrill!
Trails - There are many trails throughout Georgina that are breathtaking this time of year. Grab your snowshoes and a walking stick, maybe pick up a hot chocolate at Tim’s too! Another great idea is bringing a camera - Cardinals and Blue Jays love Georgina, and their bright colours contrasting against the white snow are gorgeous!
Ice Fishing - Once the lake is frozen over, you’ll notice huts out there on the lake. Many avid fishers love coming up here to fish for the day. Be sure to take ALL the necessary precautions when you’re on the ice!
Skating - Public skating is available for the whole family to enjoy. Head over to The Ice Palace or Sutton Arena for some family skating. You can find the drop in times here. For free outdoor skating, head over to the Pefferlaw Ice Pad.
Georgina really is the BEST place to live. Take in all the beauty of nature, sparkling Lake Simcoe and all the friendly people in this town. We hope to see you around!
